JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: HR Generalist Department: Office of People & Culture / Legal & Compliance Position Reports to (Position Title): Assistant VP of People & Culture Effective Date: Position Class (Exempt or Non-Exempt): Exempt Position Type: Full Time Is this a Primary or Additional Position: Primary Position Shift Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Job Summary The HR Generalist supports the Office of People & Culture in delivering comprehensive human resources services to Jacksonville University employees. This position assists with various HR functions including employee relations, compliance, onboarding, benefits administration, and administrative duties. The ideal candidate demonstrates professionalism, discretion, and strong interpersonal skills, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Duties and Responsibilities Serve as an HR Generalist supporting all functional areas of human resources, including recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, and compliance. Assist with employee relations by responding to inquiries, documenting issues, and escalating concerns as appropriate. Support benefits administration, including processing tuition waiver forms, retirement plan fee disclosures, and assisting employees with benefit-related questions. Facilitate and assist with HR-led programs and events such as New Hire Orientation, Annual Health Fair, and Employee Appreciation events. Update employees on related employee resources. Process HR-related forms and ensure accurate and timely data entry in HR systems. Prepare HR reports and assist with audits and compliance documentation. Prepare, analyze, and maintain HR data and reports to support compliance, audits, and decision-making Strong analytical and reporting skills; ability to generate and interpret HR data. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis) and other Microsoft Office Suite applications. Ability to learn and utilize HRIS and reporting systems effectively. Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend HR initiatives that enhance employee experience. Assist with special projects and other human resource initiatives as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-focused approach. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn HRIS and other systems quickly. Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and ability to work independently or collaboratively. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Minimum Education Requirement Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field. Preferred Qualifications 1 to 3 years of experience in Human Resources. Experience supporting or assisting with employee relations, benefits, or compliance functions. Prior experience coordinating HR programs. Experience with HR reporting or HRIS data management preferred. Physical Requirements Sitting for extended periods of time. Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment. Occasionally moves materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
