Collective Bargaining Agreement Link WHAT YOU'LL NEED The successful candidate will teach Humanities (HUM prefix) courses and will also be qualified to teach at least one additional area: Music in the Humanities (MUL), Art in the Humanities (ARH), or Philosophy in the Humanities (PHI). Instruction may occur across multiple FSCJ campuses, with a primary office location at the Downtown Campus. The primary teaching load will be on campus, with potential assignments in Live Online (synchronous) and/or Online (asynchronous) modalities based on departmental and student needs. Day and evening teaching assignments may be required. Applicants must meet FSCJ credentialing matrix requirements to teach HUM refix courses and Music in the Humanities, Art in the Humanities, or Philosophy in the Humanities, as applicable (see the below Humanities Faculty Credentialing Explainer). Humanities Faculty Credentialing Explainer Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) For Applicants to the Professor of Humanities Position This guide is designed to help prospective applicants determine whether they meet the credentialing requirements to teach Humanities (HUM) courses at FSCJ and at least one additional discipline (MUL, ARH, or PHI). STEP 1: Are You Qualified to Teach Humanities (HUM)? You must meet ONE of the following pathways: Pathway A Master's degree in Humanities or Cultural Studies Pathway B Master's degree in Interdisciplinary / Area / Comparative Studies with graduate coursework in two or more Humanities disciplines Pathway C Master's degree in one Humanities discipline PLUS at least 9 graduate semester hours in a different Humanities discipline Pathway D Master's degree with at least 9 graduate semester hours each in two Humanities qualifying disciplines. American Studies Area / Comparative Studies (e.g., Asian Studies; Latin American Studies; African Studies; Medieval Studies) Art History Classics Cultural Anthropology Cultural Studies Dance Studies / Performance Studies Ethics / Applied Ethics Film Studies Humanities Interdisciplinary Studies (Humanities focus) Literature (any language) Music History Musicology Philosophy Religion / Religious Studies Theatre History / Theatre Studies Western Civilization / Eastern Civilization World Languages Degree titles alone may not determine qualification. Graduate coursework must be clearly identifiable on transcripts. STEP 2: Additional Discipline Requirement Applicants must also be credentialed to teach at least ONE of the following: Music Literature (MUL) Master's degree in Music or Musical Arts OR 18 graduate semester hours in Music, Musical Arts, Ethnomusicology, and/or Music History. Art History (ARH) Master's degree in Art or Art History OR 18 graduate semester hours in Art History or related fields, including at least 6 hours in Art History. Philosophy (PHI) Master's degree in Philosophy OR 18 graduate semester hours in Philosophy, Logic, Ethics, or Applied Ethics (no more than 6 hours in Ethics).
